BRITISH-BUILT GRABER ALVIS FINDS A NEW HOME • Guaranteed to offer a 100mph top speed from its twin-carb, 3-litre straight-six engine, the high-performance Alvis TC21/100 – also known as the 'Grey Lady' – has always been desirable among members of the Alvis community. A fixed-head coupé version bodied by Hermann Graber of Switzerland was shown at the London Motor Show in 1955, and it received so much positive attention that Alvis decided not only to offer these Swiss-built cars in the UK, but also contracted coachbuilder Willowbrook of Loughborough to build them under a licence as the TC108/G – complete with Graber badging.
JOSHUA VIDES • This Los Angeles-based artist has applied his distinctive pop-art style to a range of classic designs
Book of the month • With dragsters and Group 4 sports-racers, Woolfe was always spectacular, but it was with a Chevron B8 that he turned international
Model of the month • Fans of the underrated front-wheel-drive Lotus Elan M100 have been rather short-changed for good models. SMTS, Maisto, Minichamps, Premium X and even the Shell Sportscar Collection have all released miniatures of the Peter Stevens-styled sports car, but scaled down it tends to look a little dumpy. Dutch model specialist Cult has a great record with its 1:18 range of British classics, and this new, resin-bodied Elan is superb. Three colours are available - Mustard Yellow, Calypso Red and Medina Green (pictured) - the shutlines are crisp and the cockpit detail is excellent. With just 3859 sold of the full-sized version, this limited edition should sell fast among enthusiasts.
